Nature needs your help.
Challenge yourself to complete 50km of activity between 1-31 October and help plant more trees.
Do 50km your way, whenever and wherever you like! Steps around your house, a jog round the block or a cycle through the woods. Take a day, a week or the whole month. However you choose to cover the distance, if you raise or donate £100 by 31 October, you’ll help plant 20 trees and make a greener, more welcoming world for future generations to enjoy. It costs just £5 to plant one tree sapling – how many trees will you plant?
Raise £50 and we’ll send you an exclusive National Trust running buff to keep you warm out there while you’re completing the challenge. Raise £100 and you’ll be in with a chance to win a £500 National Trust holiday voucher.

Get moving for trees
Trees are good for wildlife, for the climate and for us. They do amazing things for our planet, and on top of all that, being amongst them also boosts our wellbeing. But recent world weather events and climate reports have brought home just how critical it is that we don't take nature for granted. It's more important than ever that we help trees thrive, and the green environment they support flourish.
Our ambition to plant and establish 20 million trees by 2030 is already underway. Thanks to donations we’ve already received, we've been able to plant tens of thousands of young saplings across the UK over the past year. We've also identified sites for a further 1.5 million trees to be planted during the next two years.

Woodlands and wellbeing
The crunch of snapping twigs underfoot. Lilting birdsong from above. The rustling of trees in the breeze. Woodland sounds have been shown to make us more relaxed, less stressed and less anxious. A recent study, commissioned by the National Trust, has shown that woodland sounds can have a direct impact on our wellbeing. According to the People and Nature Survey, led by Natural England, almost 9 in 10 adults in England said that being in nature made them very happy, with 4 in 10 saying they were spending more time in nature than before the pandemic. So wherever and whenever you do your challenge, keep your eyes and ears open as you make a difference to your own wellbeing, nature and the climate. Any amount you raise or donate will make a difference and help grow the woodland of the future.
